With a great deal of anticipation, 35 sailors turned up for the Sprint 15 Sport Nationals on the weekend of the 10th to 12th June. It is with great sadness we have to let you know of the unexpected death of the Sprint 15 Class Chairman, Nick Dewhirst on Friday 19 July. Nick passed away suddenly whilst at home in Whitstable. Nick has been the leading light of the Sprint 15 Association for more than 25 years. He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his wife Sissy and sons Oliver and Benedict at this difficult time.

138) Event News: The Windsport Catparts Sprint 15 Traveller Series TT at Seasalter Sailing Club - Race Report

A week prior to the event the forecast was for F3 to 4 westerly, but in the last few days before the Seasalter TT low pressure systems built and the Saturday dawned with forecasts, for both days, of heavy rain then showers and winds F5 to 6 with F7 gusts. The Windsport Catparts Sprint 15 National Championships returned to Pwllheli after a 6 year break, with a strong turnout of 58 boats. With a 17 to 20 knot NW breeze, and some lumpy seas, the one lap practice race gave competitors a good taste of what hazards the trapezoidal course had to offer. The Northern Championship and penultimate round of Sprint 15 summer TT of 2011 took place on 24th&25th September at Carsington Sailing Club in Derbyshire. A magnificent turn- out of 28 boats which included 21 boats from visiting clubs and a very special mention for newcomers to the TT circuit Mark Davies, Douglas Rankin from Blithfield Sailing Club had also turned up to join in the fun. Competitors arrived to overcast skies and a light south westerly breeze 7-10 mph which was predicted to strengthen on the following day, with this in mind five boats decided to sail sport mode. more..
